By Rubén Morales Iglesias: On Sunday, October 6, champions Port Layola dominated Progresso with a 4-0 victory at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City.
This ample win moved Port Layola to second place with 19 points, while Progresso dropped to third with 17 points.
Colombian Andrés Orozco scored the first goal in the 24th minute from a penalty kick, setting the tone for the match. Latrell Middleton added another in the 26th minute with a swift counterattack. Gilroy ‘Bredda’ Thurton made his presence felt in the 80th minute with a powerful strike, and Jarret Davis sealed the win with a penalty kick in the 88th minute.
Port Layola’s performance was a masterclass in both offense and defense, leaving Progresso struggling to keep up.
