By Aaron Humes: Port Layola F.C. prevailed by penalty shootout after a 1-0 road win at the Norman Broaster Stadium in the second leg of the Premier League of Belize (PLB) Closing Season Tournament.

With the tie level on aggregate, the City boys won 3-0 on penalties, bringing the Old Capital its first-ever Premier League title and first since the days of Kulture Yabra in the 1990s and 2000s.

Port Layola also claim the sole spot in the CONCACAF Champions League which starts at the end of July.

In related news, the League has reviewed the tapes of unruly behavior in the stands at Sunday’s match and the Disciplinary Committee will hand out appropriate sanctions.
