By Aaron Humes: Fire Service personnel on the island of Ambergris Caye on Friday night found human remains inside a structure that was engulfed in flames.
Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch ACP Hilberto Romero offered details today: “On Friday the eighth of August 2025 police responded to a fire in San Pedro upon the arrival they found a small building completely engulfed in flames, fire personnel came to the area, extinguished the flames. Thereafter a search was conducted where the charred remains of a person was found inside the building. The remains were taken to the hospital where they are presently awaiting a post mortem examination. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.”
While ACP Romero told us no formal identification has been made, police suspect the body to be that of the person known to reside there, landscape work Dary Blades, 50, who was taking care of the property on behalf of the absent homeowner. Investigations continue on both fronts.
