By Breaking Belize News Staff: Reminiscent of “Cheddar Bob” in the movie 8 Mile, police are investigating a shooting incident in Belize City in which 23-year-old Christopher Zetina was shot by a gun he was handling on Tuesday evening.
According to police, the incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. on June 2, 2026, on St. Joseph Street. Investigators visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after receiving information that a gunshot victim was being treated there.
Police say Zetina told investigators that he was at home with a firearm in his possession when it accidentally discharged, injuring him.
Investigators are now working to corroborate that account and locate the firearm involved. Police noted that Zetina is not the holder of a gun license. Love News also reported that Zetina was transported for medical treatment and was listed as stable, while reports indicated the firearm may have been unlicensed.
