By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police are investigating a violent incident in Lemonal Village that left a police officer shot twice and a man believed to be a former BDF soldier chopped.

Police Constable Pharon Muslar, 38, is listed in stable condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after he was reportedly shot to the left side of the chest and left shoulder. The other man, identified as Alexander Reynolds, was released from the hospital on Monday and handed over to the Ladyville Police Formation, where he remains in custody pending investigation.

No charges have been levied against anyone in connection with the incident.

According to police sources, sometime after midnight, Muslar and Reynolds were at a repass being held at the home of fisherman John Anthony in Lemonal Village when an argument reportedly broke out between them.

Police investigation so far indicates that Muslar allegedly chopped Reynolds to the head. Reynolds is then alleged to have pulled out a firearm and shot Muslar.

Ladyville CIB personnel visited Anthony’s residence after receiving information around 12:15 a.m. that someone had been shot in the village. When officers arrived, they observed what appeared to be blood at the scene.

Scenes of Crime personnel also visited the area and noted suspected blood, but police say no expended shells were found.

The matter remains under investigation as police try to determine the full circumstances that led to Reynolds being chopped and Muslar being shot.
