By Horace Palacio: The 2024 Placencia Lobster Fest concludes today, marking a triumphant return after being rescheduled due to Hurricane Beryl. Originally slated for July 5-7, the festival’s new dates of July 19-21 are proving successful, drawing crowds to celebrate Belize’s beloved crustacean.
Despite the initial setback, the festival is showcasing Placencia’s resilience, with vendors and attendees alike embracing the change. The event features a wide array of lobster dishes, live music, competitions, and family-friendly activities.
“We are delighted with the community’s response and the vibrant atmosphere throughout the festival,” said a representative from the Placencia Village Council.
The Lobster Fest, a vital economic driver for the village, is bringing a much-needed boost to local businesses and tourism after the hurricane disruption. It also highlights Placencia’s culinary scene and cultural richness.
