By Aaron Humes: A father is on remand as police are seeking his son in connection to an attempted murder charge, stemming from a shooting incident which occurred Tuesday on the George Price Highway that left one man hospitalized.
46-year-old Owen Pollard Sr., a laborer of a Police Street, Belize City address, was arraigned on a single charge of abetment to murder Zane Pott, 27, a resident of Mile 2 1/2 George Price Highway. Allegations are that on Tuesday, December 5, he purposely aided Owen Pollard Jr., in the commission of a crime, to wit, murder.
Bail was denied and the elder Pollard remanded to the Belize Central Prison until January 31, 2024.
According to a police report, at about 8:00 p.m. on December 5, information was received of shots fired at Mile 2 on the George Price Highway.
Police responded and met Pott, an electrician of Mile 2 1/2 George Price Highway, Belize City, who reported that he was at home, and was talking to a young lady when her boyfriend arrived who was only known to him as Owen, who got jealous and began to threaten him.
According to Pott, Owen left and came back with a tall, dark skinned, slim built person who was wearing black clothing, who took out a chrome firearm from his pants waist and pointed it at him and he then hit the firearm with his right hand as he was standing about 3 feet from him.
The man then ran across the Highway into the Foam Factory compound and as he was running away, he heard one gunshot but managed to run away escaping injury.
