By Breaking Belize News Staff: An emotional victim impact statement from the sister of Police Constable Arsenio Cus brought the devastating consequences of his death into focus in the High Court on Friday, November 6, 2026, as businessman Khris Rosado continued to await sentencing for the fatal traffic accident that claimed the officer’s life.

Rosado, the owner of Thirsty Thursday nightclub, previously pleaded guilty to causing death by careless conduct in connection with the July 28, 2025 collision on the Philip Goldson Highway.

During Friday’s proceedings before Justice Derick Sylvester, Cus’s sister, Paulina Cus, described the profound grief and emotional trauma her family has endured since losing her brother more than a year ago.

“Our lives were shattered. His death left a void that altered our future,” she told the court, describing how the tragedy had changed their family forever.

She recalled how her brother was always willing to help his family, including providing financial assistance during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

Paulina also spoke about the trauma of seeing her brother’s lifeless body in his police uniform and the painful experience of identifying him for a post-mortem examination.

“Do you know what it was to identify your own brother for a post-mortem?” she asked.

She described suffering flashbacks and lasting emotional distress, while reflecting on the birthdays, holidays and family gatherings that her brother would never again share with his loved ones, including his daughters.

The emotional testimony also appeared to affect Rosado, who was visibly moved as he listened to the family’s account of their loss.

Justice Sylvester subsequently adjourned sentencing until Monday, November 9, 2026.

As previously reported by Breaking Belize News, Rosado pleaded guilty on June 16, 2026, to causing death by careless conduct following the fatal collision between Miles 6 and 7 on the Philip Goldson Highway.

Cus, 38, of Silver Creek Village, was riding his motorcycle from Ladyville toward Belize City when a vehicle entered his lane and struck him, causing severe injuries. He subsequently died from multiple blunt force traumatic injuries.

Police later located Rosado at his Ladyville residence, where investigators found a damaged 2009 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck believed to have been involved in the collision.

Forensic testing subsequently linked blood recovered from the vehicle to the deceased officer.

Rosado’s sentencing has been postponed several times since his guilty plea, including an October 1 adjournment.

The family now awaits Monday’s proceedings, when Justice Sylvester is expected to deliver his sentence.
