By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Oscar Arnold has officially taken up his new role as Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, after serving as Belize’s Ambassador to Mexico.
Arnold assumed office on Monday, June 1, 2026, moving from his diplomatic post in Mexico City to the ministry’s headquarters in Belmopan. The appointment places him at the administrative helm of one of the government’s most important ministries, one responsible for coordinating Belize’s foreign policy agenda, international cooperation efforts, and trade relations.
Reflecting on his time in Mexico, Arnold described his tenure as ambassador as a period of significant growth in bilateral relations between the two neighbouring countries. He said the Belize Embassy in Mexico had worked closely with Mexican officials on a range of issues, from trade and security cooperation to education, culture, migration, and development assistance.
Arnold said that experience gave him valuable insight he intends to bring into his new position, where he will help coordinate Belize’s broader foreign affairs agenda and oversee the ministry’s day-to-day operations.
