By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The 34th Annual KREM New Year’s Day Cycling Classic, organized by KREM Radio in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of Belize (CFB) under the regulations of the International Cycling Union (UCI), is set to feature a thrilling Open Elite and Masters race on Wednesday, January 1st, 2025.
The event starts at 9:00 a.m., with cyclists embarking on a 92-mile journey from the Santa Elena Border in Corozal to Belize City.
The route will take participants along the Philip Goldson Highway, passing through Corozal Town and Orange Walk Town, before finishing in front of Super Store on Central American Blvd. Last year’s race saw American John DeLong, riding for Skyline, emerge victorious in a final sprint, securing his second KREM Classic win. DeLong outpaced William’s Racing’s Cory Williams (2nd), 2023 winner G-Flow’s Derrick Chavarria (3rd), and William’s Racing’s Justin Williams (4th).
Cyclists are eager to take on the challenge and aim for the prestigious title as they ride into the new year.
