Noisy motorcycle draws patrol’s attention, triple charge follows

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The exhaust announced him before the paperwork could fail him. A loud motorcycle rolling through Guinea Grass on Friday night pulled a patrolling officer’s attention, and the stop that followed swept the board: expired licence, no insurance, no registration.

The Belize Police Department reports that the officer, on motorcycle patrol in the village at about 10:40 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, noticed the noisy bike carrying a rider and passenger and caught up with it. The licence handed over had expired on June 5, 2026, a date that happens to be the rider’s own birthday, meaning the document died the day he turned twenty and rode on regardless.

The questions only went downhill from there. Insurance? None, by the rider’s own admission. Vehicle licence? Also none, the checks confirmed. Three offences, one caution, and a quiet trip to the Guinea Grass Sub Station.

There, the rider was identified as Randel Rafael Perrera, 20, a labourer of the village. Rights read, custody record signed, and the formal charges laid the same date: riding without third-party risk insurance, riding an unlicensed motorcycle, and riding without a valid driver’s licence. He answered the final caution with silence.

Bail was set at $500, with a 9:00 a.m. date at the Orange Walk Magistrate Court on Wednesday, August 5, where he will share the morning with another Guinea Grass rider, stopped by the very same officer just five minutes later on the very same patrol. One officer, one village, one night, two bikes, five charges.

The district’s two-week scoreboard now reads four riders and eleven charges over unpapered bikes, and Friday night added the lesson to remember: the loud pipe that turns heads turns the patrol’s head too, and it cannot outrun a paperwork check. Renew on the birthday, ride insured, and keep the noise for the horn.
