NEMO: Flood alert remains in effect for Central and Southern Belize

By Zoila Palma:  Today, the National Meteorological Service of Belize informed that residents should monitor the weather situation and contact the Hydrology Unit or NEMO for any information on flooding.

Heavy rainfall is forecast over central and northern portions of the country during the next 24-36 hours.

The National Emergency Management Organization says that it continues to monitor conditions across the country and encourages residents, particularly those in flood-prone areas and along waterways, to stay informed and exercise caution.

At this time, the Soldier Creek Bridge is currently not accessible to small vehicles.

In addition, flood debris has been reported along sections of the Hummingbird Highway from Mile 19 to beyond St. Augustine.

A Flood Alert remains in effect for Central and Southern Belize.

NEMO says that now is a good time to review your family emergency plan, keep an eye on local conditions, and follow updates from official sources.
