By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): More than 300 children have received free haircuts and hair braiding through the Belize Coast Guard Back-to-School Drive.
The initiative is helping children across the country prepare for the new school year, and it is still going.
Teams have already visited Dangriga, Barranco, Hopkins, Punta Gorda, Consejo, Sarteneja, Caye Caulker and San Pedro.
Independence, Monkey River and Coast Guard Headquarters are next on the schedule.
The Coast Guard recognised the 1st Fleet and the Services and Support Group for their leadership, coordination and execution of the initiative.
The service also thanked village councils, town councils, community leaders, barbers, braiders and other partners whose support made each stop possible.
“This is more than a haircut or a new hairstyle,” the Coast Guard said. “It is about community, confidence and investing in our children as they begin another school year.”
