By Zoila Palma:  The Ministry of Rural Transformation is making significant strides in water security this week with 2 major drilling operations underway.

In the Cayo District, Rig Crew 1 has successfully reached a new water source in Unitedville Village after a second strategic drilling attempt this month.

The Ministry noted that this source will now undergo pump and quality testing; if it meets the community’s demand, it will serve as the new primary water source for the local system.

Simultaneously, Rig Crew 2 is on the ground in Santa Cruz Village, Stann Creek District, drilling for a vital secondary water source.

As Santa Cruz continues to grow, it has outpaced its original rudimentary system, making this expansion essential to ensure every household has reliable access to water.

“From Cayo to Stann Creek, our teams remain committed to upgrading rural infrastructure to keep pace with our developing nation,” the Ministry said.
