Community mourns loss of Jerrison Dwayne Lopez, beloved local figure

By Aaron Humes: The community is coming together to bid farewell to Jerrison Dwayne Lopez, affectionately known as Jerry Dee, who passed in December. A well-loved figure, Jerry’s influence reached many, and his loss is deeply felt by those who knew him.

Jerry, 52, apparently collapsed on Monday evening, December 22, while walking across the street from his cart and was pronounced dead while on the way to receiving medical attention; the death is not believed to be suspicious.

A funeral service will be held today, Thursday, January 8, at St. John’s Anglican Cathedral located on Albert Street. The service will begin after a viewing of the body at 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Friends, family, and community members are encouraged to attend and pay their respects.

A one-night wake took place on Wednesday evening, January 7, at the Lopez family home, located at 87 Amara Avenue, providing an opportunity for loved ones to share memories and support each other during this difficult time.

Jerry leaves behind a legacy of kindness and community spirit, and he will be remembered for his contributions and the positive impact he had on those around him.
