By Zoila Palma: This week, the Ministry of Health & Wellness continued discussions with the visiting Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) country mission team on the next steps toward advancing the Tobacco Control Bill in Belize.
On July 20, 2026, a meeting was held by Minister of Health & Wellness, Kevin Bernard, along with the Ministry’s management team.
Discussions focused on public sensitization of the Tobacco Control Bill, tobacco taxation, and strengthening national capacity to support its implementation.
The Ministry says that it remains committed to working closely with PAHO and other partners to identify the support needed and determine the next steps toward the successful adaptation and implementation of the Tobacco Control Bill in Belize.
