By Zoila Palma: Belize was represented by the Ministry of Economic Transformation to participate in the 4th Technical Dialogue of the MEF Climate Change Platform, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 9–12 June 2026.
Represented by Anisa Nah, Proposal Development Officer and GCF Technical Focal Point, Belize contributed to regional discussions on climate finance, public financial management, and sustainable development planning.
The Ministry noted that Belize participated as a panelist alongside representatives from Peru, the Green Climate Fund (GCF), and the Global Environment Facility (GEF), sharing experiences and perspectives on the challenges and opportunities associated with accessing, implementing, and scaling concessional climate finance.
The dialogue provided an important platform to exchange lessons learned, strengthen regional collaboration, and explore innovative approaches to mobilizing climate finance and advancing sustainable development priorities across the region.
The Ministry says that it remains committed to advancing Belize’s climate finance agenda and strengthening partnerships that support climate resilience and sustainable development.
