By Zoila Palma: Two representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise (MAFSE) are currently attending a Low Carbon workshop in Taiwan.
Joni Grimm, Projects Coordinator and Luwin Tzib, Agriculture Statistician in the MAFSE Policy Unit, are in Taipei, Taiwan, attending the workshop that centers on reduction, sequestration, and recycling to promote low-carbon agricultural transformation.
The workshop covers low-carbon production, carbon measurement, and resource recycling, including crop rotation, diversified planting, organic farming, carbon emission tracking, carbon trading, and agricultural waste reuse.
Combining theory and practice, the workshop supports allied and friendly countries in enhancing carbon sequestration, advancing sustainable agriculture, and applying innovative solutions to boost industry value.
The objectives of the workshop include promoting low-carbon agriculture for sustainability and combat global warming, boosting carbon sequestration and advancing carbon trading to enhance value.
The workshop will address issues such as how carbon trading mechanisms promote low-carbon farming and boost industry value, and how resource recycling improves waste management and sustains ecosystems.
The workshop is being held from August 26 to September 4.
