Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperative Department attend launch of PACT/Adaptation Fund project

By Zoila Palma:  Today, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise, along with the Cooperative Department, attended the official launch of the Creating Opportunities to Support Alternative Livelihoods project.

The event was organized in collaboration with the Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT), the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), Beltraide, and other key partners.

The Ministry noted that the project, funded under the Adaptation Fund, aims to build climate resilience among Belizean communities by promoting sustainable livelihoods while enhancing natural resource conservation. It addresses pressing climate challenges such as drought, water management, and wildfire prevention.

The Creating Opportunities to Support Alternative Livelihoods project is expected to provide long-term benefits, including improved economic opportunities for rural communities, enhanced resource management, and greater resilience to climate change impacts.

Through collaboration at national and regional levels, the project will empower Belizean communities with knowledge, infrastructure, and access to sustainable income streams.
