The Department of African and African American Studies (AAAS) at Fordham University will host Aruban-born, Grenadian author and educator Merle Collins for their annual Black History Month Lecture. Her lecture, “Fiction, History, and Stirrings of the Ocean: A tribute to Louise Little, Mother of Eight including Malcolm X,” will take place on Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm (EST) at Great Hall, McShane Center (Room 303), Fordham University (441 East Fordham Road, Bronx, New York).

Description (by AAAS): Join us at Fordham University in The Bronx, NY, for an exciting in-person event celebrating Black History Month. This lecture will be led by Merle Collins, the renowned poet, novelist, filmmaker, and Professor Emerita at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Collins, a renowned poet, novelist, filmmaker, scholar, and Professor Emerita University of Maryland, College Park will discuss her new work, Ocean Stirrings (Peepal Tree Press) on Louise Little, UNIA activist and mother of eight including Malcolm X. Discover the rich history and cultural contributions of Caribbean feminist thought.
