Man charged with handling stolen goods in city burglary

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Chadrick Elroy Usher, a 32-year-old construction worker from Lindos Alley, Belize City, has been charged with handling stolen goods following a burglary at a residence on March 31, 2024. Usher appeared before a Senior Magistrate in Court #3, where he faced allegations of assisting in the retention of various stolen items valued at $340.

Initially pleading guilty with an explanation, Usher claimed he had no knowledge that the items were stolen. However, the magistrate entered an equivalent plea of not guilty on his behalf, considering his assertion.

Granting bail of $800 plus one surety, the Senior Magistrate ordered Usher to pay $500 of his court debt before posting bail. Additional conditions include non-interference with the complainant or witnesses, regular reporting to the King Street Police Station, and staying 100 yards from the complainant.

Usher is the second individual charged in connection with the stolen items, joining Kareem Flowers, who was arraigned in April. Both are scheduled to appear in Court #6 on June 5, 2024.
