By Aaron Humes: Following the discovery of the bodies of two local teenagers, 19-year-old Jaheil Westby and 17-year-old Alwin Marin, police have been actively working the case.

Assistant Superintendent (ASP) Stacy Smith, Police Department staff officer, stated during a press briefing on Monday that while initial video footage from the area had been reviewed, it did not yield substantial leads. “I spoke with the supervisor of the investigating officer and she has advised me that they are in the process of retrieving another number of video footage and those will be reviewed to see how they assist with the investigation,” ASP Smith said.

Furthermore, it has come to light that there was a known longstanding dispute in the area involving Westby, Marin and other youths, suggesting that this conflict may have played a role in the incident. ASP Smith confirmed that multiple statements have been recorded as investigators delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding the boys’ deaths. “I do know that a number of statements have been recorded because the suggestion is that there was a longstanding dispute in that area involving the deceased person and other youth that reside in that area but the investigation is ongoing and as more efforts are made, the media will be advised.”

Investigations continue.
