By Breaking Belize News Staff: Lennox Linsford Gentle, 24, who is accused of the brazen daylight murder of Kiffer Alexander McKenzie in downtown Belize City, made his third appearance before the Belize City Magistrate’s Court this week, requesting a summary of the prosecution’s case and permission to obtain food after reportedly missing breakfast at prison.
Gentle, who remains unrepresented, appeared in Court #5, where he requested a copy of the summary of facts surrounding the murder charge. The presiding magistrate granted his request.
The prosecutor informed the court that the case file was not yet ready, prompting another adjournment to December 8, 2026, when disclosure is expected to be provided. Gentle was further remanded to the Belize Central Prison.
Before leaving the courtroom, Gentle also requested permission to obtain food, explaining that the prison bus had arrived late and inmates were rushed to court without being given an opportunity to eat breakfast.
Gentle was arraigned on August 5, 2026, in connection with the June 13 murder of McKenzie, who was shot while seated inside his blue Jeep near the intersection of Albert and Orange streets with his two children.
Police say a gunman wearing a helmet approached McKenzie’s vehicle and opened fire before escaping on a motorcycle. Despite being wounded, McKenzie managed to drive along Albert Street before crashing into a parked vehicle near Tropicana. He was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators reportedly relied on surveillance footage, information obtained through the Police Department’s Fusion Center and a statement from a female Special Constable to identify Gentle as the alleged shooter.
McKenzie was the son of the late George “Junie Balls” McKenzie.
Gentle remains in custody awaiting further proceedings.
