By Zoila Palma: Leader of the Opposition, Tracy Panton has called for a cabinet re-shuffle and an “immediate change in the police high command.”
Panton issued a statement regarding the alleged abduction of Joseph Budna calling for an independent investigation.
“The abduction of any Belizean, particularly with the alleged involvement of State actors, cannot and should not be taken lightly. This matter requires an immediate, high-level, independent investigation to establish the facts, identify those responsible, and ensure full accountability,”
Panton said.
“The Belize Police Department has a clear and unquestionable obligation: to protect and safeguard the citizens of Belize. At no point should our security forces or institutions be complicit in activities that place our people at risk or undermine public trust,” she added.
Panton says that the people of Belize deserve answers.
