Kent Egbert Taylor appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where he was charged with possession of a utensil used for smoking a controlled drug.

Police allege Taylor was found with a plastic pipe measuring approximately 1.25 inches in length.

Taylor pleaded not guilty to the charge and disputed the police allegation, telling the court: “It was a Vicks inhaler.”

The Magistrate offered Taylor bail in the sum of $300 plus one surety in the same amount. However, the court was informed that Taylor had two outstanding fines stemming from convictions in June 2023 — $105 for using insulting words and $305 for common assault.

Because the outstanding fines had not been paid, the Magistrate ordered that they be settled before Taylor could secure bail.

Taylor was unable to pay the fines and was consequently remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

He is due back in court on November 30, 2026.
