By Rubén Morales Iglesias: With the Krem’s New’s Year’s Day Cycling Classic looming in the horizon, Junior rider Jaylen Briceño from the G-Flow Cycling Team demonstrated exceptional talent and determination, winning the 2nd Annual Pre-New Year’s Day Cycling Race, beating the entire field of Elite, Masters, and Junior riders and claiming the Elite and Junior Categories. The event, held on Sunday, December 22, 2024, saw cyclists competing in a challenging race from Orange Walk to Belize City.
Briceño’s stellar performance earned him first place in the Elite & Masters Category, along with a cash prize of $600.00. His victory in this category highlights his competitive edge against seasoned cyclists.
In addition to his triumph in the Elite & Masters Category, Briceño also secured first place in the Junior Category, adding a $200.00 cash prize to his accolades. Briceño, who is one of Belize’s best young cyclists, put in evidence his versatility and potential as a rising star.
The race results for the Elite & Masters Category are as follows:

- Jafari Castro (G Flow Cycling Team) – M/Elite – $200.00 Cash
- Athlee Lozano (Valvoline Cycling Team) – M/Elite – $100.00 Cash
- Tamron Morris (GRIGA CYCLING Team) – M/Junior – $50.00 Cash
- Jaheem Lewis (Valvoline Cycling Team) – M/Youth – $50.00 Cash
- Devyn Major (G-Flow Cycling Team) – M/Youth – $50.00 Cash
- Dylan Levy (Valvoline Cycling Team) – M/Elite – $50.00 Cash

- William Castillo (GRIGA CYCLING Team) – M/Junior – $50.00 Cash
With his victory on Sunday, Briceño has given notice that he will be pushing the boundaries aiming to win the Krem’s New Year’s Day Cycling Classic.
