By Zoila Palma:  The Trump administration will revoke the temporary legal status of 530,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans in the U.S., effective April 24.

This decision ends a two-year “parole” program that allowed these migrants to enter the country with U.S. sponsors, Reuters report.

Trump’s move, part of his ongoing immigration crackdown, argues that such parole programs exceed federal law. The revocation could leave many migrants vulnerable to deportation unless they secure alternative legal status.

The change follows Trump’s broader immigration enforcement efforts, including record deportations.

Additionally, the Department of Homeland Security’s new policy will expedite deportation for migrants who have been in the U.S. for two years or less.

While the Biden administration had introduced parole programs to address illegal immigration, Trump’s action is expected to escalate tensions surrounding U.S. immigration policy.
