By Zoila Palma: Beyoncé made history during Black History Month at the 2025 Grammys, winning Album of the Year for Cowboy Carter—her first win in the prestigious category after several nominations. She became the fourth Black woman to ever win this award, following Lauryn Hill, Natalie Cole, and Whitney Houston, AP reports.
In her acceptance speech, Beyoncé dedicated her win to Linda Martell, the first Black woman to perform at the Grand Ole Opry. Host Trevor Noah celebrated the achievement, calling it long overdue.
Kendrick Lamar won Song and Record of the Year for Not Like Us, while Chappell Roan claimed Best New Artist.
Beyoncé also made history as the first Black woman to win Best Country Album.
The ceremony highlighted efforts to raise funds for victims of the recent wildfires in Los Angeles.
