Inés Méndez-Larminaux takes the Women’s World Title at 2026 Optimist World Championship

As Ada Monzón shared (via Facebook), Puerto Rican sailing made history with the recent win of the Women’s World Title by sailor Inés Méndez-Larminaux at the 2026 Optimist World Championship in Tangier, Morocco, which took place from June 18 through 28, 2026. She became the first Puerto Rican woman to win a World Championship in the Optimist class.

Adrenalina Náutica wrote, “Facing a fleet of 284 of the best sailors from 71 countries, the young Puerto Rican woman proved once again that talent, discipline and perseverance can take our flag to the highest point in the world.”
