Rugero Mazariego, originally from the Stann Creek Valley area, appeared before Senior Magistrate Mannon Dennison in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Friday morning.
Police said Mazariego was found earlier that day with a white metal pipe measuring about three inches in length and fitted with wire mesh. The object was described as being used or adapted for smoking drugs.
Mazariego pleaded guilty to the charge and told the court he would try to change his ways.
“I will try to do better if given the opportunity to do so,” he told the court.
As a first-time offender for the charge, Mazariego was fined $100 plus $5 in court costs. He has until September 30, 2026, to pay the fine or he will serve one month in prison.
