By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Central Champions Gwen Lizarraga High School from Belize City, representing last year’s winning region, will face Northern Region champions San Pedro High School in the National Secondary Schools Boys Basketball Championship on Saturday morning at Sacred Heart College Auditorium in San Ignacio.
Hosts Sacred Heart College, the Western champions, are matching up against Southern Region champs Stann Creek Ecumenical High School from Dangriga for third place.
On Friday, in the semifinal round of the tournament organized by the National Secondary Schools Sports Association, Gwen Liz took out Stann Creek Ecumenical 83-53 stamping their ticket to the Final.
In the other semifinal, San Pedro High beat hosts Sacred Heart College 55-47 earning the second ticket to the Final.
The first game on Saturday, starting at 9:00 am, will feature the Girls third place game. The second game of the day will be the Boys third place match.
The third game will be the Girls Championship game and the fourth game will be the Boys Championship game.
