By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Under 17 Belize’s Men’s National Team (U17 BMNT) are set for kick‑off tonight as they open their Concacaf U17 Qualifiers campaign at Estadio Cementos Progreso in Guatemala City. The 20‑man strong squad have been in Guatemala since Sunday, preparing under the guidance of head coach Philip Marin, who leads the group into their most important international test to date.
The U17 BMNT face Curaçao this evening at 7:00 pm, the first of three decisive Group F matches that will determine whether they advance to the FIFA U‑17 World Cup Qatar 2026. With only the group winners qualifying, Friday night’s opener carries enormous weight.
Prior to the regional tournament, Belize played one preparation match, defeating ACAFUT Tigritos 4–0 in Flores. Juan Diego Dussan, Jordan Glenn, Jahson Stanford, and Daayvion Serano scored the goals in the mid‑week friendly.
The squad are anchored by Marlon Meza, the Mount Pleasant midfielder who is studying and playing in Jamaica and who has already earned selection to the “A” Belize Men’s National Team. His senior‑level exposure makes him the most experienced player in the group and a key figure as Belize begin their regional campaign.
The Football Federation of Belize said the team’s preparation reflects months of discipline and commitment.
