Galen University proudly commemorated its 22nd Convocation Exercise with a historic celebration, as 236 students – the largest graduating class in the university’s history—were conferred degrees, diplomas, and certificates.
Sidney Marie Fuller, top undergraduate student, in her Welcome Address, acknowledged the significance of the day and invited her fellow graduates to “… don’t forget who you’ve become on this journey. Don’t play small. Let your education empower you to lead with purpose, to serve with compassion, and to never stop learning”.
Dr. Godwin Hulse (h.c.), Acting Chairman of the Board of Trustees, in his Chairman Remarks reaffirmed Galen’s commitment to national development and ethical leadership, while reminding graduates that “You become from this day forward an ambassador of Galen and as an Eagle, soar high and be an example that others will want to emulate!”
Degrees, diplomas, and certificates were formally presented by the Deans of the respective faculties and conferred by the President of the University. The ceremony also included the conferral of a Doctoral Degree, conferred by the President and hooded by both Chairmen, followed by the introduction of the keynote speaker.
Delivering the Keynote Address was Dr. Andreas Charalambous, founder and first president of Galen University. Drawing inspiration from “Ithaca” by C.P. Cavafy, Dr. Charalambous encouraged graduates to embrace life as a meaningful journey. “Life will invite you to stop at many places to meet new people, to open yourself to new cultures, ideas, and knowledge. Embrace these opportunities. They are not distractions from your goals; they are the essence of the journey” he shared.
Dr. Rene Villanueva (h.c.), President of Galen University, delivered heartfelt remarks and presented a special President’s Award recognizing Dr Sylvia Cattouse, Dean, Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship for her exemplary leadership and service.
The formal program concluded with an address from the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Kostas Karanikis, who affirmed the graduates of the bond they share with Galen University “So, you see, Galen and its graduates are an interwoven pair, sharing a legacy: Where you go, we go: where we go, you go”.
Onando Jade St. Bernard, the top graduate student, in his closing remarks encouraged his fellow graduates to “Take a moment to bask in the glory of your success with your loved ones. We trust that you will never forget the values and skills that you have acquired during your time at Galen University. Keep soaring for you will forever be Eagles.”
As Galen University continues to expand its impact and prepare for the future, the 22nd Convocation stands as a proud symbol of progress, resilience, and commitment to academic excellence and lifelong learning.
