Football Federation of Belize reelects Sergio Chuc as President, votes in Onan McLean as Vice President

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Sergio Chuc has been elected for a third time as president of the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) on Saturday at the FFB’s XVIII Ordinary Congress at Cahal Pech Village Resort in San Ignacio on Saturday. Chuc was the only candidate for the presidency of the FFB.

Chuc will be heading the biggest sports association in the country unless he doesn’t garner 51 percent of the votes.

This is Chuc’s third term at the helm of Belize’s biggest sports association. Chuc was first elected on December 2, 2017 when he won 14 of 20 vоtеѕ over Оnаn МсLеаn who received four vоtеѕ аnd outgoing president Ruреrtо Vісеntе who only got two vоtеѕ. Dаnіеl Fаbrо didn’t get any votes.

That election was the third attempt to hold the 10^th Ordinary Congress after members boycotted the June and August attempts to hold the Congress because Chuc was barred from competing.

Chuc was reelected on August 22, 2020.

Onan McLean was voted in as Vice President over incumbent Cruz Gamez and Rafael Avila. Gamez had served as vice president for two terms under Chuc.

Incumbent Jacqueline Pelayo was returned as the Woman Member of the Executive Committee over challenger Georgina ‘Gina’ Zabaneh

Marlon Kuylen and Shane Orio retained their posts  as Ordinary Members of the Executive over challenger Ian Jones.

FFB Secretary General Earl Jones said the FFB Congress also approved a $4.15 million budget, presented its 2023 Activity Report, and made a number of amendments to the statutes.
