By Breaking Belize News Staff: On March 30, 2026, the Belize City Sub Umbra Floreo Lions Club issued a statement advising the public that, effective April 7th, 2026, reimbursement will commence for all persons who purchased tickets for the Truck Raffle.
The decision comes following controversy after the club twice postponed its planned raffle of a 2026 Toyota Hilux pick-up truck after it was scheduled to be held at the end of 2025 and then again at the start of March.
Mounting questions were asked about the management of funds collected through ticket sales for the raffle as well as wider accountability for financial and administrative governance of the organization.
The club said that refunds will be conducted in a structured, transparent, and accountable manner to ensure efficiency throughout the process.
“For individuals requesting cash reimbursements, a tentative venue has been identified as the Civic Center Ticket Booth.
Please be advised that the final confirmed location and detailed reimbursement schedule will be officially announced tomorrow,” the club said.
In addition, the club said that authorized representatives of the Club will be reaching out directly to ticket holders to confirm their preferred method of reimbursement and to provide further guidance regarding the process.
The Club said that it remains fully committed to ensuring that all reimbursements are handled promptly, fairly, and with the highest level of integrity.
