By Rubén Morales Iglesias: After last weekend’s cancellation of the Under-16 Belize Girls National Team (BGNT) training session due to Tropical Storm Nadine passing over Belize, the Football Federation of Belize is recalling the team for training this weekend from Friday, October 25, to Sunday, October 27.
The FFB is getting the U16 BGNT ready for their participation in the 2024 Central American Football Union (UNCAF) FIFA FORWARD Under-16 Girls Championship, to be held in Managua, Nicaragua, in November.
Belize was seeded in Group A along with Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Panama. Group B comprises Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, and invited guests, Cuba.
The U 16 BGNT will face Nicaragua on Wednesday, November 6 at 5:30 pm. Their second match will pit them against El Salvador on Friday, November 8 at 8:00 pm. They will close group play against Panama on Sunday, November 10 at 8:00 pm
The U-15 BGNT, which competed in the 5th Concacaf Girls’ U-15 Championship (League B) tournament in August in Trinidad and Tobago, forms the base for the Under-16 BGNT. The team, which includes players such as Betsy Perez, Marceli Mar, Shanalee Smith, Arella Cal, and Joleen Aranda, is coached by Joseph Waight.
The U-16 BGNT will leave Belize on Monday, November 4, and return on Wednesday, November 14.

- Wednesday, November 6, 2024: Nicaragua vs. Belize at 5:30 pm
- Friday, November 8, 2024: Belize vs. El Salvador at 8:00 pm
- Sunday, November 10, 2024: Panama vs. Belize at 8:00 pm
