By Zoila Palma: Deputy Mayor of Belize City Eluide Miller proudly delivered the Welcome Remarks at the Belize District National Festival of Arts 2026: Golden Showcase, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening at the Bliss Center recently.
Deputy Mayor Miller highlighted the incredible journey of young performers, from months of preparation to earning their place on the golden stage, and reminded us all that the arts are more than performance.
“They are a foundation for confidence, discipline, and leadership, while also acknowledging the continued efforts of the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) in keeping this important tradition alive,” Miller said.
Miller applauded the students, teachers, and families whose dedication continues to keep Belize’s cultural traditions alive and thriving, emphasizing that our children are not just performers, they are the future of Belize.
“As Belize District shined through music, dance, drama, and poetry, the message was clear: our artistic expression is strong, our culture is vibrant, and our future is bright,” the Belize City Council said.
