By Aaron Humes, Belmopan: The traditional treasure trove of prizes has been awarded to the Farmers of the Year for 2024.
Maura Escobar was honored as the Junior Farmer of the Year; Sara Chub was recognized as the Female Farmer of the Year; and Nandy Aldana, was acknowledged as the Senior Farmer of the Year.
Each received more than $5,000 in cash prizes and gift certificates from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise and various sponsors.
They each also received agricultural equipment and a calf to start dairy production.
