By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belizeans can expect a pleasant end to October, as a mild north to northwesterly airflow continues to dominate weather conditions across the country, according to the National Meteorological Service of Belize.
The morning forecast for October 31 calls for mostly sunny skies with a few cloudy spells throughout the day, and mostly clear conditions tonight. Forecasters say little to no rainfall is expected as the country transitions into November under cool and stable air.
Winds will blow from the north to northwest at 10 to 15 knots, producing choppy seas with wave heights between three and five feet. Mariners are advised to operate with standard caution, though sea conditions remain generally favorable.
Temperatures today will peak around 83°F (28°C) along the coast, 85°F (29°C) inland, and 74°F (23°C) in the hills, cooling to 70°F (21°C), 64°F (18°C), and 60°F (16°C) respectively tonight.
At 3:00 a.m., Hurricane Melissa was located near latitude 35.9N, longitude 64.0W, or approximately 255 miles north of Bermuda. Melissa is moving northeast at 41 mph with maximum sustained winds of 90 mph. The hurricane poses no threat to Belize.
Forecaster Catherine Cumberbatch says fair and cool conditions will continue into Saturday and Saturday night, with little or no rain expected nationwide. Sunrise this morning was at 5:50 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:21 p.m.
With the month of October closing under calm and pleasant skies, Belizeans can look forward to a cool and comfortable start to November.
