“Recapitulación” [Recapitulation] by Nora L. Rodríguez Vallés will open at the Delta de Picó Gallery in San Juan’s Liga de Arte [Art League] on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 7:00pm. “A unique opportunity to discover the visual and conceptual universe of an artist who challenges the conventions of art and memory.” The gallery is located at 1 Dr Francisco Rufino de Goenaga Street, Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.
About the exhibition: [The artist presents an] exhibition that revisits her artistic career through works that connect memory, language, and identity. From her beginnings in Bartolomé Mayol’s studio to her master’s degree in Gender and Art Studies and her doctorate in History, Rodríguez Vallés has developed a body of work that challenges structures and proposes a dialogue between the past and the present.
“Recapitulación” emerges from a retrospective look at her work, in which the artist brings together pieces that have never been exhibited before or that have only been shown once. In her words: “There is a kind of eternal present that describes ellipses, links that show the elasticity of time. “Recapitulación” was the title I thought fit what I wanted to show. The structure of a visual ‘sonata’ allows me to invite and be invited to revisit paths with their detours and accidents.”
