By Aaron Humes: Police say a man in their custody who had just moved to the village of San Juan (Cowpen) in southern Stann Creek District is being accused of the murder of village resident Elias Bejerano, after allegedly attempting to rob a woman.
ACP Hilberto Romero, Head, National Crime Investigation Branch, told reporters that Bejerano had sustained several chop wounds to the body: “Investigation [reveals] that Bejerano was going home from a bar in the area when he was attacked by a male person with a machete. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.”
As for specific motive, Romero added, “The information we got is that earlier the person attempted to rob a female in the area earlier likewise, so that is what we are looking at.”
