By Aaron Humes: A Zeta gas delivery man was shot and killed earlier this afternoon, Tuesday, in Orange Walk while on the job, while his co-worker was hospitalized with gunshot wounds.
The victim has been identified as Roberto Villafranco, killed around 4:30 p.m. on the Chan Pine Ridge Road, not far from a gas station. Villafranco sustained multiple gunshot wounds, including to the head, and died at the scene.
His co-worker, Felipe Vasquez, was shot in the chest during the attack. Vasquez managed to flee and ran to a nearby gas station for help. He was transported for medical treatment and is listed in critical but stable condition.
Preliminary reports indicate the two men were targeted in a robbery while making deliveries.
Police have not released further details on the suspects. Investigations into the fatal shooting are ongoing.
