Election and Boundaries Department to visit Corazon Creek for Voter Registration, ID Card Distribution

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Elections and Boundaries Department of Belize has announced a visit to Corazon Creek Village in the Toledo District on Thursday, December 19, 2024. This visit aims to facilitate voter registration and distribute voter identification cards to eligible residents.

The team of officers will be stationed at Corazon Creek Technical High School from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Residents from Corazon Creek, Dolores, San Lucas, Midway, Crique Sarco, Sunday Wood, Otoxha, Conejo Creek, and Barranco Villages are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.

Eligibility Criteria for Registration

Election and Boundaries said that to qualify for registration, individuals must meet the following criteria:

  • Be 18 years of age or over.
  • Be a citizen of Belize.
  • Be a citizen of any Commonwealth country who has ordinarily resided in Belize for a period of not less than twelve months.
  • Be a resident for a period of not less than two months in the electoral division in which they seek registration.

Required Documents

Individuals are required to produce any of the following valid original documents to facilitate the registration process:

  • Belizean birth certificate or Belize nationality certificate, along with a Social Security Card or a photograph certified, stamped, and signed by a Justice of the Peace.
  • Belizean Passport.
  • Commonwealth Passport (for Commonwealth Citizens).

Voter Identification Card Distribution

Persons who have been registered as electors since July 2, 2018, and have not yet picked up their voter identification card can collect their cards during this visit.

The Elections and Boundaries Department emphasizes the importance of getting one’s name on the electoral roll and having their vote counted. Residents of the mentioned villages are encouraged to participate in this initiative to ensure their eligibility to vote in upcoming elections.
