By Aaron Humes: Around 11 a.m. Wednesday, a road traffic accident in San Roman Village, Stann Creek District, near El Rancho Junction involved a taxi van and an elderly man knocked down off a bicycle.
Cecilio Cal, 84, was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital in Dangriga where he later succumbed to his injuries.
A police report stated that according to the bus driver, he was carrying three passengers on the Thomas Vincent Ramos (Southern) Highway between miles 27 and 28 when Cal, heading in the opposite direction, allegedly suddenly swerved into his lane.
The driver said he hit the brakes but the front right portion of the bus struck Cal. Police investigations continue.
