By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 25 year old construction worker of Half Moon Key has been charged after police found an eight inch kitchen knife on him during a patrol.
Police say the Quick Response Team was conducting mobile patrol on the Belize Corozal Road in Orange Walk Town around 11:40pm on Wednesday when officers noticed a man riding a red BMX bike toward YiYi store from the direction of Central Park.
He was wearing a red sweater with the hood covering his head.
An officer stopped him, identified himself and informed him that a search would be conducted for illegal drugs, firearms or ammunition.
In the front portion of the sweater, police found a silver and black kitchen knife.
He was informed of the offence and cautioned, and told officers the knife was for his personal protection.
At the Orange Walk Police Station, the cutting blade was measured in his presence at eight inches in length. The knife was placed in a labelled envelope and sealed with evidence tape.
Darnell Valentine was arrested and charged the same night. He was cautioned and chose to remain silent.
