By Aaron Humes: Chief Magistrate Jayani Wegodapola has remanded 29-year-old car dealer Jovannie Jones and 23-year-old Jerwin Segura from Burrell Boom Village, charged jointly for two counts of murder.
The pair are accused of the ruthless double murder of Felix Martinez and Adelita Gillett. The couple were found killed on Monday night near the Crooked Tree junction.
According to reports, the victims had a dispute with the car dealer over a vehicle that was to have been delivered and were expecting a refund of over 30 thousand dollars.
No plea was taken in court and Jones and Segura were each remanded to the Central Prison until March 25.
Separately, Commissioner of Police Chester Williams clarified that Police have not found any evidence to date to suggest that Gillett and Martinez, the parents of a ten-year-old son, were themselves directly robbed before being killed. Rather, it is alleged they had gone to meet their suspected killers concerning the financial refund, only to be killed.
