By Aaron Humes: Hubert Baptist and Eric Fraser are hospitalized after being targeted by gunfire from a moving vehicle near Mile 4 on the Philip Goldson Highway.
According to reports, the men were traveling in a Nissan Rogue going east when they were set upon by an SUV, which pulled up on them, and its occupants opened fire.
Baptist and Frazer’s Rogue ran off the road, and eyewitnesses at the scene rushed to help them out and get them to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH), where they remain in likely critical condition.
Police are investigating. The likely motive is gang rivalry, as Baptist is the brother of the late Brandon Baptist, who was killed last January.
Additionally, the site of Tuesday afternoon’s incident is about a mile west of Horizon Academy, in front of which another prominent figure was targeted a few months ago.
