By Zoila Palma: Data from the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) shows that the “Restaurants and Accommodation Services” category recorded an inflation rate of 1.6% in January, 2026, driven largely by higher costs for dining at restaurants and cafés.
SIB data for January 2026 shows that the inflation rate for ‘Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages’ stood at 0.9 percent, primarily attributed to a 0.6 percent rise in ‘Food’ prices and a 2.4 percent increase in prices for ‘Non-Alcoholic Beverages’.
In addition, the price of instant coffee rose by 9.7%.
