By Aaron Humes: The Belize Police Department is seeking the assistance of the public in identifying the body of a male currently at the morgue and listed as John Doe.
The ongoing investigation commenced on Friday, May 1, about 8:20 a.m., when police responded to a report of a body floating in the river near North Front Street, Belize City. Upon arrival, officers observed the lifeless body of a dark-complexioned, middle-aged male in the water.
Initial investigations revealed that a citizen traveling in a boat saw the body floating and alerted security personnel at a nearby parking lot, who then contacted the police.
The body of John Doe was retrieved, and it was observed that his face was swollen, with a small cut wound behind the right ear. The body was transported to the KHMH morgue, where he was pronounced dead.
Anyone with a missing male family member is kindly asked to visit the nearest police station to make arrangements to view the body.
