Copa América 2024: Uruguay beat USA 1-0, advance to Quarterfinals as Group C winners

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Uruguay defeated the United States 1-0 in the CONMEBOL Copa América 2024 at the Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Kansas on Monday. The South Americans topped Group C with nine points from three consecutive victories and advanced to the Quarterfinals.

Mathias Olivera scored the only goal of the match in the 66^th minute.

Panama beat Bolivia 3-1 at the Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida totalling six points and qualifying along with Uruguay to the Quarterfinals.

The United States finished group action in third place with three points ahead of hapless Bolivia who lost all three games. Both failed to advance to the Quarterfinals.

The final first-round games will be played on Tuesday, with all four Group D teams participating in their third and final group match.

Brazil face Colombia while Costa Rica take on Paraguay. Both games kick off at 7:00 pm. Currently Colombia lead the group with six points. Brazil follow with four. Costa Rica are next with one and Paraguay find themselves without any points.

The Quarterfinals kick off on Thursday with Argentina tackling Ecuador. On Saturday, Venezuela face Canada. The final two Quarterfinal matches will be played on Saturday. Uruguay will play Group D’s second-place while Panama will match up against the Group D winners.
